Description:

A state-level committee responsible for ensuring the development of an informed, well-trained and competent staff in regards to knowledge base, skills and practice patterns consistent with evidence based practices for the treatment of persons with co-occurring disorders.

 

 

Goals:

To develop the LITS Basic Orientation Curriculum and ensure all Mental Health and Addictive Disorders staff are trained on basic core competencies and clinical practice guidelines in the treatment of persons with co-occurring disorders.

 

To develop the Advanced Orientation Curriculum and ensure all Mental Health and Addictive Disorders clinical and medical staff are trained in the following topic areas 1) measuring organization, staff and client readiness for change, 2) structure of co-occurring capable and enhanced program, 3) person-centered approaches, 4) integrated screening and assessment, and 5) treatment planning, with a special breakout for medical staff focused on diagnosing and pharmacology.

 

To assist in the coordination of advanced trainings for specific disciplines (i.e., nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, etc.) consistent with licensing / professional ethics standards, or accreditation in coordination with academic institutions.

 

To develop a method of disseminating information (e.g., workshops, web based training, etc.) to expand knowledge base among staff and ensure information flow to direct care staff from regional, district and state leadership.

 

To assist in the development of a certification program that utilizes testing as a means to ensure skills development to practice at specified level of competency utilizing a person centered approach; raise professional standards & resolve licensure and credentialing conflicts.

 

To ensure the development of an organized clinical supervision and quality improvement program for sustainability of workforce skill levels.
